So I think I have most of what I need and it’s in place. I think the loft is now ready for some birds. I have a few tweaks here and there but I have my trap installed.
I want to just change it very slightly so I can easily let the pigeons out into the aviary. Not quite sure what I’m going to do yet for that. I will either cut another door for letting them out and the trap will remain an entrance only, or I make the bob wire on this trap removable. I’m not sure if one option is better than another but I don’t think so. As the birds get a little older I want them to be able to go in and out of the aviary as they need.
I don’t have them all in yet and I will modify them as well but I have some perches up and ready for the new young birds coming.
There is not many here so I think I will very soon tighten it up and add some more. I want to start with roughly 20 birds and see how I do training them, keeping them happy and eager to come home when I need them to.
I want to add a late arrival landing board on the aviary as well so I don’t have to worry about some birds who may come home late. The idea is that they can still get in the loft while it’s locked up for the night. We will see what I can do and how.
